PARKS

SYDNEY’S OASES OF TRANQUILITY Whether you are working up a storm in the CBD or settled in the suburbs, Sydney offers a surprising array of tranquil settings, many with fantastic flora and fauna, particularly birdlife, and incredible views.

Sydney has a significant chunk of greenery for such a populous city. In the CBD alone, the 30 hectare Royal Botanic Gardens kiss the waters of Farm Cove and Woolloomooloo Bay and link with The Domain and Hyde Park, Darling Harbour hosts the Chinese Garden of Friendship and Tumbalong Park and Wentworth Park spans more than 12 hectares near the foot of the Anzac Bridge.

Then there are four national parks within cooee of the CBD – Sydney Harbour (chiefly around North Head), Lane Cove and Garigal on the North Shore and Botany Bay south of the city.

Two major National Parks bookend the city – Ku-Ring-Gai Chase 30km north of the city and Royal (the second oldest National Park in the entire world) 30km south of the CBD.
